Hermon is a town located in the northwest part of St. Lawrence County in New York. As per the 2010 census, the town had a population of 1,108. The town was formed in 1830, and it is named after the biblical Mount Hermon. The town has an area of 37.3 square miles (96.7 km2), of which 37.2 square miles (96.5 km2) is land and 0.12 square miles (0.3 km2 or 0.32%) is water.
The town of Hermon has a variety of services, including a grocery store, a gas station, and restaurants/bars. Additionally, the town hosts several events throughout the year, including the Hermon Community Day in August, the Balloon Bash in September, and the Hermon Winter Carnival in February. The town also has a public library and park. Outdoor recreation opportunities in Hermon include hiking, hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling.
Hermon is part of the Edwards-Knox Central School District, which provides education to students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. The nearest hospital is located in the town of Gouverneur, approximately 20 miles away. The nearest city to Hermon is Ogdensburg, which is about 35 miles away.
